Captain Jack: Tell me about Layna Landry.
Layna Landry: I grew up in the middle of nowhere and I think that fostered a lot of desire for adventure and desire. I spent a lot of time in nature and I spent a lot of time by myself. I was an only child and grew up in the middle of the woods. We moved when I was middle school age and, after that, I spent a lot of time doing extracurriculars like theatre, orchestra, dance and a lot of time spent with friends. Just trying to get out of the house as much as possible.
CJ: How old are you?
Layna: I am 27.
CJ: How long have you been in the industry?
Layna: It’s been 8 years now.
CJ: When did you lose your virginity?
Layna: I actually lost my virginity quite young. I was 13, it was a good friend of mine.
CJ: Once that happened, did you start exploring your sexuality?
Layna: I’ve always been connected to sexual energy and my sexuality. I was always curious about it from a really young age, younger than most people are comfortable in hearing about. CJ: Why did you decide to get into the adult industry?
Layna: I actually started in the industry as a stripper. I worked my way up from there. I was working at a club, I had just dropped out of college, super stereotypical. So, I was just interested in seeing where else I could take it because I wasn’t super satisfied with the club I was at. I started looking at ads online and I came across an ad for an agency that represented girls in mainstream porn. It was something that a lot of people had told me over the years. ‘Oh, wow, I can’t believe you’re so good at this! CJ: You took a break recently (2 according to IAFD, around 2016 and then again in 2020), why did you leave?
Layna: That’s not entirely accurate. I guess the first one in 2016 was accurate in terms of shooting mainstream porn specifically. I have been mostly producing my own content since then. I shot for about a year and a half-2 years. I had a whirlwind of crazy experiences and I needed to take a break and a breather and do my own thing. So, I decided to take a step back, try to make my own content, and, over the last couple of years, there have been so many bills passed and regulations passed like the banking regulations, SOSTA/FESTA, all of that. It makes it really difficult to shoot your own content, it makes it hard to be seen, it makes it hard to get noticed so I decided to get back into mainstream porn. Partially because I miss it. I miss the environment of being on set and the energy of being on set with a team of people collaborating. And also because it’s really good exposure.
CJ: When you were out of it, especially the most recent one, did you have any regular jobs?
Layna: I’ve been off-and-on with some part-time jobs. My other trade before I got into adult was actually theatre and specifically in production. My part-time job was at a lighting designer and an electrician at a local theatre.
CJ: How did you come up with your stage name?
Layna: This is another one of those grey-area stories. When I was younger and exploring things and just following those urges, I had a fake MySpace page where I was pretending to be a 21-year-old girl living in LA. I was using my own pictures because, when I was younger, I looked older than I was. I just matured really early. So, it was my photos but I was posing as someone older and just messaging with other people. The name ‘Layna’ is actually derived a longer name that this MySpace page was under. If anyone tries to find it, good luck, because I don’t think the account even exists anymore. ‘Landry’ came about because I like alliteration, I was looking for a last name and it just rolled off the tongue so I went with it.
CJ: So what was your first scene like? You were sexually experienced but it’s different with all these people around. Were you intimidated? Nervous? Turned on?
Layna: My first scene was amazing! I had just flown in to Florida and 2 days later I was shooting for Reality Kings. I think the male talent was also somewhat new, I think he was in the industry for a couple of months at that time. He was super sweet, really nice. Everyone on set was amazing and made me feel like a Princess. I was super excited to be there. I make yard decorations and costumes, things like that. And I’m also into any kind of athletic pursuit. I like pole dancing and going to the gym, yoga, all of that. Layna: It’s hard to say. I run the gamut. I like everything from classical to hip hop to weird alternative stuff, EDM, a little bit of everything.
CJ: Do you have any favorite movies?
Layna: There’s too many! There are just too many. I like some cult classics like Donnie Darko, Fight Club, stuff like that.
CJ: What’s your favorite TV shows?
Layna: Lost. I would have to say my favorite TV show of all time is Lost just because of the way they wrapped everything up so perfectly. A lot of people didn’t get the ending but I felt it was misunderstood.
CJ: What’s your favorite food?
Layna: I love so many types of food but if I had to narrow it down, I would probably pick any time of Thai food. I love Thai food.

I was in the theatre program so I would help with running lights and set audio for an event, stuff like that.
