Captain Jack Interviews Maya Divine
Maya was in the industry for a long while before taking a hiatus to go back to school. The MILF is coming back to porn and she has a lot more to offer! She’s overcome a lot in her life but the main thing to remember is that she’s given us a lot of scenes to enjoy and plans to give us a lot more!
Captain Jack: Tell me about Maya Divine. Where did you grow up?
Maya Divine: Oh my God! You want me to go in the wayback machine? I was an outcast, people did not like me. I was bullied as a child. I did not have a very good school experience at all. I had a very traumatic childhood and when I say traumatic, I’m not saying that lightly. I had 3 murders and one suicide between the ages of 15 and 17 including my best friend, my mother and my grandmother. My grandmother is the one who killed herself. So my childhood was not fun! By the time I was 16, I was on my own. My stepfather is the one who killed my mother. That’s behind me. You live, you grow, you move one. Other than that, I wasn’t a bad kid. Supposedly, I was called a wild child but I didn’t do that much! I got decent grades in school, I always have. When I took this time off, I graduated with honors and I’m nearly done with a Master’s Degree. All in all, I was a pretty decent kid but I didn’t have much of a childhood to speak of!
CJ: What subject are you taking for your Master’s?
Maya: Meta Physics. It sounds like a big term but it has to do with everything having to do with spirituality. You can say religion but that’s such a limited term.
CJ: Why did you originally join the porn industry?
Maya: It was in the 90s, about 1998. I think stripping is a gateway into all things adult. I started stripping when I was 18. By the time I was 19, I already had somebody in the club that hooked me up and sent me out to LA to do magazines. I was in magazines all over the place; Penthouse, Hustler, High Society, Gallery, Mayfair….That happened for a couple of years and then that slowed down. Feature dancing was very big where I lived in Florida. I was thinking of doing that but I was still so shy and insecure. It took me a while to get into feature dancing because my credits were old by that time. I still pulled it off but then the laws changed and everything got shut down. Because I had done Hustler, they put me on some Hustler Trading Cards. I went to conventions to sign the cards. It was pretty cool. The guys that hooked me up introduced me to a couple people who knew people and they got me to the AVN Convention. So I went out to Vegas with the thought to make more income and to create some interest in the feature dancing. Once there, I met Paul Thomas and Michael Raven and everybody. I had been in an HBO documentary, the very first one, Naked State. Paul had seen it and totally wanted to shoot me. And Michael said he would take me back to LA immediately. So I shot a couple movies for him and my husband came out to meet me. It was a rough patch in our relationship because we were trying to figure things out. We had to work that out for a bit and then a couple of years later, once things settled down, we started working with other people. That’s how it all took off and that’s how I ended up in the industry. Things were so different back then. They didn’t allow guys in so easily. That’s why I had to work with him for as long as I did. It was rough getting started for a little bit. I was offered a contract from Vivid but because I was trying to work on my marriage and figure things out and I didn’t exactly understand the scope of things, I passed it up. I would love to be able to do more now but this is the reality. So now I’m trying to get back in after all this time off and see where it takes me.
CJ: Is your husband still in it?
Maya: Yes, it’s Eric Masterson. We just celebrated 18 years of marriage and 20 years together.
CJ: How long were you in it before your retirement?
Maya: About 13 ½ years.
CJ: Why did you retire?
Maya: Once you’ve been in it that long, things start to slow down. I had done some make-up artist work. There was no work as a performer for me. I had been in it so long, it just wasn’t happening. MILF’s were in it but it wasn’t like it is now. It wasn’t prominent. My brain started saying, ‘Hey, I would like some attention too, can we go back to school and act like we actually have a brain.’ I realize that I had to give myself the attention and affection, to show myself the love, that you can’t get in this type of industry. I needed to go back to school and show myself that I had much more to offer myself. A lot of people don’t realize, we torture ourselves so much in life and we beat ourselves all the time, I got tired of feeling that way. I wanted to go back to school and show myself I could do it and show that I had it in me.
CJ: Why did you decide to come back?
Maya: Oh goodness. After getting all the way through school, I went through a phase that I had to figure out what I wanted to do. I’m at the age and now is the time where if I’m going to make the most of it, this is the time I’m going to get back into the industry where I still look pretty decent. I can make the most of this MILF thing that is a big thing in porn now. I want to take advantage of that. I realized that since I wasn’t working and I had trouble deciding what to do for work, porn was an option. I had to comeback at least once. (laughs)
CJ: You mentioned how the industry is so different now. What do you notice as the biggest changes now from when you first got into it.
Maya: How easy it is for some people to get into this industry, guys especially. Back in the day, girls had to tell producers they would only work with this guy in order for him to get a foot in the door. That’s one of the major differences. There are so many younger girls now. Back in the day, there weren’t so many 18-year olds in the industry. Porn has reached the stage where, as soon as someone reaches 18, ‘I’m going into porn!’ I don’t know what happened or what TV show got out there to make it so glamorous. Of course, we don’t have film anymore. The internet has certainly changed things. You don’t have to be in porn, but you can make a million dollars as a housewife with 10 kids while masturbating on camera as long as the kids don’t come in the room. It’s amazing to look up these websites. There are a billion girls out there, 18 on up, out and about. It’s amazing, everybody out there is making a dollar on the internet. Piracy is rampant, but it’s taken quite a bit out of the industry. It’s helped the industry too but it’s really taken away from it as well. Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure as hell going to get my money too! (laughs) They have all these apps nowadays too. Social media has drastically changed porn. It’s major, it has to be a part of it if you want to make a name. When I started, we had none of this!
CJ: What’s your favorite position?
Maya: I like missionary only because I like to look into the person’s eyes. That and because of the way I’m built. I honestly think that my cervix, or whatever the hell that shit is, is tilted a certain way.
CJ: Do you have any favorite scenes?
Maya: I know that my husband likes everything that I’ve done for either Naughty America or Brazzers. So if you’re looking for something, hook me up on those two companies. CJ: You haven’t done much anal in your career. Are you planning on more?

CJ: How often do you masturbate?

CJ: What are you like off-camera? What are your hobbies and interests?
Maya: Oh, now I can be boring. (laughs) As of right now, my husband and myself, we’re both busy but we like to spend time with each other when we get the chance. Whether trying to sit down and watch a movie or going out to eat somewhere or whether we want to fuck. (laughs) When he’s not around, I’m a big gamer. I love to play World of Warcraft. Since the new expansion pack that has come out that launched, there were many events that happened throughout the game. If you purchased the pre-package, you get to do all these events up until the day it launches. Let’s put it this way, if you’ve been playing WOW up until this point, you can have a character up to level 100. When you buy the expansion pack, now your character can go up to 110. Before the expansion pack, I had two level 100 characters. This is how geeky I am. I have been playing so heavily, I now have 6 level 100 characters. I’m a geeky person who loves to play World of Warcraft. I love to read. My husband loves to play DND. For all those geeky people out there, I am your girl. I am the one!
CJ: What kind of music do you like?
Maya: Most of the contemporary stuff right now, I am not liking it. But I like old rock. When I say old rock, I don’t mean the 90s, I mean the 70s. (laughs) I also like listening to hair bands and I’m a huge fan of club music.
CJ: What’s your favorite movie?
Maya: I’m a huge fan of anything Marvel. I just watched Angry Birds last night, it was cute. I really enjoyed the whole story of Lord of the Rings because I like those epic stories. Stuff like that.
CJ: What’s your favorite TV shows?
Maya: My biggest favorite all-time TV show is Major Crimes.
CJ: What’s your favorite food?
Maya: Pizza!

I hope they know how much I appreciate it and how it matters to me. Secondly, I truly, truly want to put out there to any producers, directors, whomever, that whoever is interested, I would really like to do some softcore movies. I want to get back into the acting. I’m truly excited and interested to get back into it. So if anybody out there can bring that to me, I’m all about it.
