Andi Rye Talks with Captain Jack
Andi first caught my eye at last January’s Adult Entertainment Expo. And she hasn’t disappointed in the performances I’ve seen since then! Andi is a very open woman, as you’ll be able to tell by reading this interview. She has a very interesting story to tell and I hope you learn something about Ms. Rye!
Captain Jack: Tell me about Andi Rye.
Andi Rye: I grew up just north of LA, so I’m very much a Valley Girl. It’s pretty funny because that’s where most porn is still. I knew that, even growing up, ‘Oh, there’s a bunch of porn over there!’ It was never very strange to me, Hollywood was always in my backyard. Even as a young kid, I was scouted a few times for commercial modeling like commercial acting and I went to a few different auditions but never got a role. So it was always around. I do have family that works in film. I have an uncle who’s a cameraman for a lot of major TV shows. I’ve always been a little jaded towards the “biz”. (laughs) I have a little bit of unique perspective compared to a lot of girls coming into the industry. My full-time passion but only part-time work was freelance modeling. I did any sort of “art collaborations” and really fell in love with doing nude art work. I was doing it for the love of it but there was definitely pressure to make money so I sought out an agency. I was lucky and quickly got signed. But that was one of the worst things that happened because that really took away the joy and the art. I spent 19 and 20 years old pursuing fashion. I went to New York several times and did a few odd jobs there. I eventually came back to California to do some soul searching and start over.
CJ: When you were a kid and knew porn was being filmed right next door, did your parents warn you not to go over there?
Andi: My parents never said much. I do have a grandmother who was always kind of wild and always told it like it is. She was a close friend so whenever we would go driving over the Hill and into LA, she would say things like, ‘I know they make a lot of porn out here’ and it was never really a warning. I don’t think they ever imagined that I would. (laughs) My family is pretty liberal as far as social issues go. I was allowed to be a kid with colored hair and I had the nose piercing. My mother never really understood my rebellious stage but she also never told me no. I was very lucky for that.
CJ: How old are you?
Andi: I am 25.
CJ: How long have you been in the industry?
Andi: For just over a year. I actually signed my contract on 4/20 of last year. That’s always a good giggle.
CJ: When did you lose your virginity?
Andi: Oooh. Well, I like to say I made my sexual debut because I didn’t “lose” anything that day. I was 15.
CJ: Is there a good story behind it?
Andi: It was definitely embarrassing. We both wanted it and I was kind of rushing, for sure. My boyfriend at the time, my MySpace boyfriend, we could only see each other on the weekends because we were both in high school but different high schools. I hung out with punk rockers and we knew all of the cool bands around town and we hung out and smoked weed and strummed guitars. So I said, ‘I know this band in a barn we could go to,’ which is so gross! In high school, I shouldn’t have but I was watching some naughty stuff on-line. So we snuck out to this abandoned barn and bought condoms on the way. We had sex in that barn and there was broken glass everywhere and we tried to find a clearing. He busted his kneecap on a little piece of glass and that’s what I’ll remember. The fact this all happened fast, it wasn’t painful or too memorable. We had sex like one more time a week later and he broke up with me. I don’t blame him. I was wild! (laughs)
CJ: Did that open up the floodgates? Were you promiscuous after that?
Andi: Yes, definitely. Every month after that, I had a new boy trip, never a boyfriend but some cute guy I was talking to. I had sex for the first time and then each month for the next 4 months, I fucked a different guy. Then I met my high school sweetheart and I ended up 4 years with one person. So that was my fifth person. He was kind of similar. He was really slutty at a young age. We thought we were going to grow old together but that didn’t happen. After that, I was 19 years old and single. It was kind of overwhelming and I realized I could date men with beards and butthair. My ex-boyfriend was a manchild. He’s skinnier than me and prettier than me but I’m more handsome! Then I was rocketed into adult dating. I knew I was kinky even with my high school boyfriend but we didn’t know what to do.
CJ: Were you with girls before porn?
Andi: No, I hadn’t properly done more than making out with my girlfriends.
CJ: Why did you decide to get into the adult industry?
Andi: There’s a few years in between coming home and then finding myself in the adult industry. I was able to reconnect with different artists and friends of mine within the fashion and mainstream world. I was also able to reconnect with my art and just doing little projects here and there. I was really focusing on doing some nude work that I wanted. I did that for a short time and I was always working at a “real” job by day. I’ve worked in retail, fine dining, in a high end skin care company…all these things. I was living in Long Beach for a short time when I was going to school for skincare. At this point, all modeling was on the backburner. I was 21, 22 and I thought, ‘I have to get my life together! I can’t just be this little starving artist!’ So I went to school for about 6 months just to study for my esthetician license. During that time, I met my second ex-boyfriend which I moved in with and all his roommates. There was 6 of us in a 4 bedroom but my ex and I had converted the living room. It was a big hippie house. We were the house you went to to smoke weed and do drugs. At that point, I ended up working at Starbucks. I had finished school and he cheated on me and broke up with me and I was stuck there. I worked at Starbucks, I was living with my ex, I was miserable but he had introduced me to Chatterbate. He told me he used to do this back in college. ‘Huh? People are paying you to jerk off? What the hell?’ So I gave it a shot. This was a bit before the breakup. I didn’t know how to Chatterbate and we were hanging out drinking. I was excited to get naked and all it took was one person paying me $10 to suck my boyfriend’s dick and I was ‘THIS IS AWESOME!’ (laughs) So shortly after the breakup and feeling so stuck, I continued camming. I got back into dating but in the kink community. One thing led to another and I met my current partner. We’ve been together for almost 2 years. We were together for quite some time before porn but I was camming. We had talked about porn in fantasy terms. Like, ‘Oh, would you do it? What would you want to do?’ and stuff like that. I wasn’t opposed to it but I wanted to make sure I was doing the best porn, like the top companies. No offense, no shame to the game because all ho’s have to stick together but I didn’t want to work for little sites. So through camming, I was scouted. I was contacted by my agency and they are definitely amongst the top 2 so I took the jump. I dove in head first and I fucking love every day of it. Every scene, every job I’ve done. I dated kinky. I had my first threesome off-camera. I did anal before there were cameras. So I just felt like, ‘Oh, this is just like fashion except there’s a dick in me! I got this!’ I know how to look at the lights and the camera so it all went together!
CJ: You mentioned it a couple of times so I’ll ask about it now. You have a Daddy Dom. Tell me about that.
Andi: He has say so in every aspect of my life. I do want the world to know that my partner is my best friend and my lover. He’s better than a boyfriend, he says I’m allowed to have 5 boyfriends. We live together and have our own separate rooms because we both like our own space. When it comes to the 24/7 dynamic, there are some unspoken rules. Well, we spoke them, we actually wrote them down. We like to call them protocols more than rules because it’s the little things about how we navigate the world together that shows my submission to him and him alone. Little things like always staying about a step behind him so that whenever we’re walking somewhere, he always knows that I’ll be just behind him. Even that makes it less awkward because we have a path to walk on the sidewalk. I’m right behind him, I just grab his hand. We have rules for the bedroom and rules for when I’m working but ultimately, he’s my biggest fan and wants me to be the biggest slut I can be. Slut is such a negative term to most people but if you’re a confident sexual person, you’re an empowered woman, slut is something to be proud of. I always use #HappySlut because I don’t want people to get this dark and twisted mentality that I’m fucked up. No, I bring bubbles and cookies for the dungeon! For Daddy, it’s a much more playful nature which I think allows him to be even softer sometimes than someone who’s a Master. Also, a lot of chemistry in our Daddy roleplay is more like I’m a doll, more like I’m an object. I’m really into that; being his plaything or being his property and being something that he’s proud to own. There’s a lot to it!
CJ: How did you come up with your stage name?
Andi: ‘Andi’ is very much a nickname that I had before porn. It kind of derived from my real name. When I was working at Starbucks, which was my last job before porn, one of my best friends that was working there would always write Andi on my cup. I reminded her of her sister whose name was Andi and it was Andi Panda all the time. I thought it would be funny when I was doing porn, ‘I’m still Andi!’. (laughs) And ‘Rye’…I brainstormed with Daddy for a couple of days just listing off all sorts of words that we could think of. We even cracked open books and tried to think of characters’ names that we thought were inspiring. Nothing really rolled with it but, the full truth is, my Daddy would like to have children someday, and I do as well, long in the future. We thought keeping the middle name of the child ‘Rye’ would be really cute. It’s a bread and he loves bread. He’s been a vegan for a long time and bread is kind of a life source. We joked that would we really name our kid that? ‘If you like it, I like it!’ But when it came time for a porn name, I thought Andi Rye sounds kind of cool. I’m not a big drinker and I think people think that because of the name. No but if I’m going to have a liquor, it’s going to be whiskey and my preferred whiskey is rye so it all fits. Rye has a really great history behind it when it comes to prohibition and everything. It’s true American spirit shit right there. True American rebellious spirit!
CJ: With your Daddy and everything, I take it you like working with older men?
Andi: I definitely prefer them. I’ve worked with some of the legends in my first year and they’re all older.
CJ: What do you like sexually? What gets Andi wet?
Andi: Oh boy. A whole lot of things but really, really good energy. That’s such a big response. It depends on the person. I know it’s a new term but I’m definitely pansexual because even a feminine man could be very submissive to me, which really turns me on. But if it’s a really masculine man with a big dick, I am instantly submitting and worshipping him. It’s really kind of individualized for me. That’s why I’ve really adopted and become comfortable with being a switch. Most of my experiences have been as a submissive before porn. Being a young, pretty little thing, I was very blessed to meet and date a handful of doms who, to this date, are among my best friends. I love just losing control and being taken control of. I love rough sex but the way there’s a build-up. Everything is being used and every body part is being touched and there’s no real limits for either of us. Of course, don’t do drugs and don’t poop on me. My only real hard limit is electrical play. I’m just a purebred slut really. Group sex turns me on. Ladies turn me on. I like girls with big tits because it’s just so much different than my body. Big boobs are really fun. (laughs)
CJ: How often do you masturbate?
Andi: At least once a day. As much as 5 times a day.
CJ: Favorite method?
Andi: I’m definitely addicted to my magic wand. If I’m busy all day, I can bang one out in a couple of minutes and that’s my one time before I run out all day. But if I don’t have too much to do today, I can easily spend an hour and have multiples.
CJ: When a guy pops, where do you prefer it?
Andi: I really love having cum shot straight into my mouth. Or being in the midst of deep throat where it just shoots down my throat. I don’t know if that’s a convenience thing but I do get to taste it and I do get to feel it swelling and pulsing and all that. It is a satisfying feeling like ‘Yeah, I did that!’ And I do love creampies but, outside of porn, I save creampies for Daddy. And he has little girlfriends and playdates too but the one thing he won’t do is cum inside their pussies. He saves it for me.
CJ: You said you did your first anal long before porn. How old were you when you did your first anal?
Andi: My first anal was with my high school boyfriend so probably as young as 17.
CJ: Have you done a DP yet?
Andi: Yes, I did one DP for Pierre Woodman.
CJ: Do you think a double vag or a double anal would be in your future?
Andi: I hope so. That’s the kind of thing that would make me proud of myself!
CJ: Do you have any fantasies you would like to live out on camera?
Andi: I do. I definitely would like a gangbang. That’s the longest, biggest fantasy I’ve ever had. Sasha Grey is my hero! (laughs) I think of her as the Queen of Gangbangs. I definitely would like to do interracial. I would love to work with Dogfart and the other side of the spectrum is, I would love to work with Blacked. I would love to do the comical but also real taboo like Dogfart and I would also like to do something classy like Blacked. I don’t feel like black men are a fantasy because that’s nothing new to me. It’s definitely in porn, I want to do it in porn. Also trans women. I have always drooled over transwomen because I love dick and I love boobs so it’s the best of both worlds. And buttholes. At least in Trans porn, there’s always butthole play.
CJ: Are you still holding off on IR?
Andi: I don’t have anything booked as of yet. I’ve allowed my bookings to be slow as I transitioned into some things in my personal life. I moved recently and that was a big ordeal. I also got really sick after AVN and that cost me almost a month off. I’ve been struggling to maintain good health because of stress and moving but now that it’s summer and I’ve been in my new place for a while, I’m feeling like myself again. I did seek out a therapist just to make sure I’m keeping myself in check and that I never get to a point of burning out too hard. My first year was so exciting and my “new girl” phase has come to its slowing point. I’m not in a rush to build, build, build…I want to stay in porn as long as I physically can. Within the next 6 months or so, we’ll make some big things happen. I’m redoing my website and also focusing on my own content. I just started ManyVids but I don’t have too much on there yet. There’s a lot of doors open right now and I’m focusing myself on that.
CJ: What are you like off-camera when you get free time. What do you do for fun?
Andi: My greatest passion now has become fire dancing but 90% of the time that I’m practicing, it’s never on fire. It’s just me somewhere with a big stick, spinning it in circles. Very sloppy ninja maybe, definitely not a master. I kind of look like Rey from Star Wars when I’m spinning myself. It’s a little dangerous but the less afraid you are of the fire, the safer it becomes. It’s your own fear that gets in the way. It’s meditative. I’m also a cyclist. I love riding road bikes and exploring the city by bike. All of my closest friends are pretty much cyclists of some sort.
CJ: What kind of music do you like?
Andi: I mostly listen to different electronic music. The first album I ever owned was Gorillaz Demon Days. And Daft Punk…I can’t remember the name but it was in the 90s. That really shaped me. I also have a soft spot for hip hop and pop and whatever is on the top charts so I can just dance. There’s a handful of bands that I listen to well but it’s mostly electronic.
CJ: What’s your favorite food?
Andi: I have to say burritos. I do eat vegan but I think burritos are my life saving food because almost anywhere I go to a Mexican place, and they’re all over in Southern California, I can get beans and rice and pico de gallo and I don’t have to explain everything!
CJ: And how can the fans get ahold of you?
Andi: Twitter is @AndiRye. Instagram is the same. Someone made an Andi Rye Facebook fan page. I don’t mange it but I’m not mad. If you just search my name, it should come up. My website is under construction but if you go there you can find links to everything else I’m on.
